He'd never had a very good sense of humour.
Plaetedo Krin drummed his fingers on the dashboard, mouth hanging open and a glazed expression on his rugged face.
A high pitched whining sound cut through his daydreaming like a shimmerblade. Blinking he stared down at the small screen infront of him, reading off the display he felt his resolve fading fast. "Mighty enforcer of our laws, sadly there are still those who meddle in the art of undesirable acts, the no good villains flee from our sentinels, they are pinned down in a warehouse! Encircle, eviscerate and eliminate the scoundrels!" Lowering his forehead into a hand he muttered to himself, "That cheerful disposition.. it makes me wretch."
"What was that Plaet?", a chuckle from the side, "I couldn't quite hear you!". Shifting his gaze slightly, Plaetedo grimaced at the large, rosy cheeked man sitting aside him, driving the compact and mobile P-150 Hoverunit.
"Shut up Avu you bastard..and don't call me Plaet, I'm not dinnerware."
"Hah! For one who supposedly has no sense of humour, you sure crack wise on-", Avu cut off as the barrel of a standard issue sidearm dug into his ribs.
"Don't get misconceptions you shit. I can get a new partner easier than I could a haircut".
They drove on in silence for several minutes, Plaetedo's threat seemingly having an effect. They reached the criminal hideout sooner than he had hoped, pulling a small inch long needle from a pocket, he pumped a fiery colored liquid into his neck.
"My gameface, I'm not a natural killer", he explained, taking several deep breaths, he blew the airlock and stepped out into the night air. Tugging at his belt he gazed out over K'cin City V. Towering monoliths blotted out the horizon, the hum and whine of vehicles permeated the air. Sighing he tilted his head back as a light rain began to fall. After a moment he held a hand out to catch a drop of the 'rain', looking down in disgust, he realised it was some form of fuel.
"A bad joke", he spat and crammed his helmet onto his head and made his was swiftly to the warehouse entrance to shelter from the 'fuel rain'. Avu knelt at the entrance, helmet pressed against door. Plaet could not see his partners face due to the dark visor, he wondered vaguely if the idiot was still grinning.
"The others?", he asked quietly.
"Round the back, they'll draw the enemy fire, we'll suprise them from behind, remember Plaet, no prisoners."
Plaetedo shrugged down at him and slammed his own visor down, just in time to hear voice crackle into existance in his headset.
"On my count team.. three.. two.. one..", a piercing howl shattered the silence nearby as metal doors splintered into pieces. Plaetedo lifted his foot and kicked the door infront of him with all his might, muscle power enhanced by his bodysuit, the door caved in. Ducking and moving in headfirst, he whipped his rifle from his back and slammed into a nearby crate. Squeezing two fingers on his left hand down, he knew that an electronic signal had just flashed up on Avu's display, signifying 'go right'. Not even waiting for a response, Plaetedo pulled himself to the left side of the crate, and brought weapon to shoulder, two hostiles stood on a gangway above, with thier backs turned, he squeezed his finger on the grip, and two galvanised particle rounds burst from the tip, the first shattered one of the mens kneecaps from behind, the other caught him in the neck as he fell, dead before he hit the ground. Firing off another two rounds to down the second man, Plaetedo suddenly got a chill down his spine that was not related to the powerful emotion-calming drug he had taken.
"Only two..?", As if his worry had summoned them, screams suddenly burst into life on his in-helmet communicator. Swearing he shot off towards the second and main room of the warehouse.
As he entered the large area, a gruesome sight met him.
All six of the main unit. Dead on the ground.
Yet Avu.. Avu was alive. Avu patted one of the hostiles on the shoulder and gave him a smile, a smile so different from the fake ones he constantly plastered over his large face. A true smile.
"AVU!", the anger.. did it come at the loss of the other men? Or at the personal betrayal, Plaetedo wasn't sure he cared at that moment, lifting his weapon he took aim, before he could fire however, a searing bolt hammered into his wrist, where the bodysuit's armor was weak, grunting he dropped his weapon and fell to the ground. Despite the emotion-quelling drug, he felt fear, he was going to die. Desperatly he pulled forth his sidearm and whurled to his feet, somehow he managed to get to Avu before any bolts hit him, grabbing the larger mans own sidearm he wrenched it free and span, one weapon pressed against Avu's visor, the other pointing at the several men who approached.
"You were fucking with me all this time Avu?", he growled through gritted teeth.
"I prefer the term joking, Plaet"
Plaetedo Krin had never had a very good sense of humour.
